Dr. Mike "DoctorMike" Reddy steps from the guest sofa into the presenter's chair for the #30 (12th June 2008) edition of the Develop GMA award winning "Games Night". There was only one more before XLeague was pulled off air.
This is part one of four, taken from the iTunes feed version of the show, so apologies for the quality as it took several conversions to get it editable for YouTube. It was originally 640x360 wide screen SD, but editing seems to have squeezed it a bit. Sorry.
For the record, this was my first ever "recorded as live" presenting job. I had done live radio before, and pre-recorded TV, but Portland TV worked to a ridiculous schedule, so there was no time to edit, other than time wasting re-records. I feel rather chuffed that for the whole show, we only needed to re-record one element, and that was because a guest swore!
Of particular note in this part, we were about to cover the individual chart when through my ear the producer told me they had "lost the graphic", so I had to pad out; this really threw Doree on my right as he was meant to talk us through that one, as Ellie had done the all formats chart. This was the first of several "blips" thrown at me during recording, which afterwards I wondered whether it was all a deliberate extended test of my presenting skills. Only you can judge if I passed.
Here are MY self-criticisms: Reading from the auto-cue I put my head back, due to stage lighting, which made me rather nasally in sound. Tips for the future, lean forward and relax a bit more.
looking good mike!
