God bless her always

@Shaaaunda She was a pistol, as was Molly Ivins- both are greatly missed

George W Bush was never a "guy I would wan't to have a beer with" However, Ann Richards was sure a "gal I would have a beer with" Anyday of the week. Wish she was still with us. It would be fun to sit and have a drink with her and let her rip on all the modern politicos of today...RIP Ann.

2004. Oy vey. The lack of reason and common sense is astounding. Market driven terror products. Ann had perfect timing for the courageous comedienne that she was. God save the Queen of Texas.

Ann Richards - A legend in her own right..

I think there is some rewriting of history being done in some of the comments. As Governor, she was a strong woman who did good and bad for Texas. In her good times she was elected, when things became bad, she was defeated. RIP Governor.

@Shaaaunda she was a real pistol, to be sure. A very wise and lovely woman. Reminds me a lot of my feisty grandma- she took no one's shit.

In an alternate universe in which Ann Richards and Molly Ivins are still alive, Rick Perry would have a hard time getting a job at Whataburger for lack of experience.

good god not ann richards, the one that literally opened the front doors of texas prisons and let out criminals who went out and just did what they did again in order to "free up the prison population". sad time in texas when crime went up significantly
As a Texan I'm ashamed and disappointed I wasn't more familiar with her when she was still with us. She was fucking great.

Governor Ann Richards restored the pride in all of us from Texas no matter where we all are in the world, she, unlike George W. Bush, is the"real"grand Texas woman in everything she did.I was in Europe when she had passed on and myself and a few other Texans I met in Europe, were in shock and wished we were in Austin to pay our respects to the "pride of Texas".
