Once you get your hands on a supercharged 556-horsepower 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, you know that you need a 500-hp 2008 BMW M5 with which to measure it. It's a matter of practical science.
Of course, there's a sizable price difference between the $59,995 CTS-V and the $86,675 M5, and we don't want to get our comparison results skewed by mere money. Maybe we should add the 507-hp 2009 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG to our science project. Trouble is, this Merc's $86,875 price tag still doesn't put the CTS-V under any pressure.
We had a better idea. We opted for the more nimble 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. This compact sedan cranks out only 451 hp, but it weighs almost 400 pounds less than the E63, and its base price of $58,075 rings up about $2,000 cheaper than the CTS-V.
Is the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V a true benchmark in the super sedan category? Measured against the pure performance of the 2008 BMW M5 and the value of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, we knew the truth would come out.

Also someone said that M5 sounds like shit. From 1000 to 4000 rpm it sounds like diesel, like it's going to destroy itself. But that's normal whit HIGH-REV naturally aspirated engines, the same thing is with previous M5 E39. but take it over 8000 rpm and you'll heard the true power of M. Not that supercharged, turbo, twinturbo peace of crap engines... Shame that new M5 F10 will be twin-turbo, M is dead, shame, i really love m cars...
While I do agree that a twin-turbo V8 is a radical departure for BMW, which for the most part built itself on naturally aspirated engines, I can think of no other company that could create a better forced induction engine. Looking at the torque and HP curve for the current 3.0L twin-turbo engine is like looking at art. You can't tell me that linear power curves(more like lines) like that aren't pretty.
Somebody probably wrote this before but: BMW M5 has 507 hp and with SMGIII, which is standard transmission, it takes 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds. So 0-60 in 4.8? I don't think so! Car has too mch set up things and maybe they didn't use everything the needed. BMW M5 rules!!!! Naturally aspirated V10/8400 rpm!!!

what a shame to BMW
Now, that's something we will ALL see. *Stops* And we'll ALSO see the RS 6 be a victim. That 5.2L TT V10... It's over for that thing!
