Although tap code is much slower than morse code, it is also much easier to learn and can be used to communicate through a wall, which would require two different sounds if using morse code. Tap code is also more reliable as there is only one type of sound being used, and no possibility of mistaking two different types of sound. Also, practicing tap code requires no equipment, but can be sent with morse equipment if needed.
