A tricky and explosive ab exercise that takes some practice to get right. Even then you will find yourself losing your balance every so often! It works the abdominals amazingly hard and also utilises the lower back and hip flexor muscles among others. Your heart rate and breathing will also increase. Get practising!
1) Lie on your back with your arms out in front of you.
2) Explosively contract your abs and lift your shoulders and feet off the ground at the same time.
3) Touch your hands and feet/shins together in a pike movement as close to the '12 o clock' position as you can manage.
4) Lower both your shoulders and feet down at the same time to the start position whilst under control.
The co-ordination factor is probably the hardest thing to master with this exercise. Trying to get your feet and shoulders to come up at the same time and meet in the middle isnt very easy. As with all things though, keep practising and you should achieve it. Increasing the flexibility of your hamstrings will also help with this one.
