MANY Americans (even those not of E. euro extraction) have had borscht. not as popular in OZ 'cuz most Aussies are English (or Irish, Scottish, Welsh) in ancestry, with a good number of Greeks in parts. But, borscht is common in many parts of the US... Midwest where Russian-German Mennonites settled. Or Ashkenazi cuisine influencing food in New England and the Mid Atlantic states.
NOOOO! DONT PUREE IT!!! It ruins it! Keep it chunky. You chopped the veggies all nice and pretty for a reason. Plus your borscht looked a little bit on the thick side. But I would totally try your borscht! I just made some for the first time tonight using a diff recipe. It didnt turn out great. Maybe I shoulda sauteed all the veggies like you did first. I so want borscht like the kind I tried 5 years ago. Sigh...it was perfection
there are many variations to borsch, my ukranian friend gave me a recipe, but she adds beef or chicken..its a very good and hearty soup, thank you. from lovely san diego.
Вижу первый рецепт борща от иностранца с натираемыми а не порезанными овощами. Молодец! На ютубе много рецептов и твой ближе всех к правильному. Овощи обязательно натирать и обжаривать! Но где мясо?
it's easier to shred 'em after you boil 'em...
