No Martha IS the smartest. Even the BBC comfirmed it when they released top trumps of who. Plus ep 12 series 3 comfirms that when she travelled around the world and worked out what the DR meant by "use the countdown." And Martha is the hottest. Rose it good looking but has a weird lip. Sorry but that's just my opinion. And Martha helped the Dr get through the pain of losing Rose but it also pushed her away. And actually Martha is my fave but it is Donna who can control the Dr.

Rose was not ounce for ounce a better companion; she was just on the new incarnation on the show longer and people were accomstomed to seeing her with the Doctor.  Bit once they had Rose fall in love, there was little else for her to do but wait for that pivotal "kiss". Requited romance has killed a many good series.
