This only made it to the number 60 spot on the Country charts in 1973. Columbia Records probably had no interest in promoting the disc as Marty had upped sticks and moved on to MCA/Decca Records. It also charted for Claude King the same year and then later by Kenny Rogers. The song reached #1 in 1967 for Leon Ashley. The song, to my knowledge has never appeared on CD by Marty. I should imagine that this recording is not that well known, but nevertheless it's a great song sung by one of the greatest singers of all time.
My god, what a wonderful song - and a rare one also - this is one of the few songs that are still missing in my Marty-collection. Thank you very much, tarquin45, for posting this!

Marty Robbins was one of the greats-but nobody sings this tune like Frankie Laine.

Very good one. I like this a lot, but I may prefer Kenny'd a little more. His voice just sounds a little more sinister.

breath-taking, heart-achingly beautiful vocals and talents in abundance... the man was gifted in many ways! How lucky we are to enjoy his gifts.
