Beam me up Scotty

George Takei, aka "Sulu" of Star Trek, appeared as a guest host on "Metro Motion" a show I produced for the Los Angeles MTA. At the end we had a surprise exit for Takei. This clip is just the ending (I did the motion graphics - fun!)

Can you do that in Adobe Premiere?

This was done in After Effects. I doubt in Premiere you could get the effects and precision required to do it.

I've been thinking about this, I think I can do this in Premiere by using one of the video effects called

lightening and another one called glow. I'll put the effects on the person, set the vectors, time, and other parameters. Keep the camera running, have the person step aside. Then edit out the part where he walks away so that it appears he just disappears within the lightening and the glow.
