I think the G_d that most people THINK they are supposed to believe in is one that many spiritual people don't actually believe in. I would say, "don't throw away G_d just because a*holes throw their version of G_d AT you".

ha the part where you say the visions of the prophets were strong then any acid trip remnided me of somthing the Rambam wrote in the Mishneh Torah ; "Their limbs tremble, their physical powers become weak, they lose control of their senses and their minds are free to comprehend what confronts them" - Hilchot Yesodei HaTorah,Chapter 7 - Halachah 2.
