This was launched as part of the build up towards White Ribbon Day, 25 November. It is the international day when people wear a white ribbon to show they don't tolerate or condone men's violence towards women.
White Ribbon Day was started by a men's movement in Canada in 1991 and has been officially adopted by the United Nations as its International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It was introduced to New Zealand by UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women) and now many activities are run around the country to promote the day.
The VCD is a project by Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga National Network of Stopping Violence Services. It is a network of 33 community organisations who work together to prevent violence and abuse in families in Aotearoa New Zealand.

you're right about one thing, being white is alright but why are you using skin difference as an excuse to make an intolerant comment. Seriously, this group already knows that there is a problem with domestic violence amongst Polys hence the stand that they're taking. These performers are showing that there's power in peace and ignorant statements like the one you made only incite further violence. Keep championing the cause BAV and don't let the knockers distract you.

What an ignorant thing to say!
To say all 'Coconuts' love violence is like saying all 'white folk' are wealthy.
These artists are just a handful of the many Pacific Islanders ready to take a stand against something that would make, an otherwise amazing community, better.

Jesus, some people will criticize ANYTHING! They did a wonderful job with this song and if the folks that made the original liked it enough to give them their approval then that should tell you something.

these guy actually wrote to Mercury the record label and D'Angelo in the States for permission to do this. They had to send it over first, they were blown away with their version and permission was given. At the end of the day the original was about uplifting and so is this version, maybe you should take a leaf out of both their books before hating.

I like both versions :) LOL yeah I agree with the badass part but when you get the chance to meet them, I can honestly say I've never met such a humble, soft spoken, funny and God-driven group of men! Thank you for supporting NZ talent <3

I like this version better than Black Men United, and this is coming from a proud black man. The thing that gets me the most about this is these guys look like some straight up bad asses. Homeboy at 1:54 looks like the Rock! Then you have a few that look like Bikers and gangstas, but these man can sing. I really really love this version!
