@katie0095 Apple TV has cache storage, which is really only a buffer for streaming content. You can connect it to a Mac over WiFi and stream movies to your TV that way, but if you only want to watch movies off your Mac on your TV you really don't need an Apple TV; just an HDMI adapter.

Apple TV would make more sense if you could plug in an external drive, and/or create an iTunes server. If you want to watch movies off a computer, just plug it in to your HDTV with an HDMI cable. All Apple TV seems to be good for is renting shows... and for that one use, $99 is pretty steep to me.
