My parents went on their first date to see this film. Needless to say, it scarred them for life, and forced them into marrying eachother with the sole purpose of creating a child that would eventually grow up to become a powerful writer, who's life work would then culminate in the typing of this single YouTube comment.

    Now i feel empty.

Besides the box-office and budget thing this movie was ruined because of word-of-mouth of one of the studio executives who had a dislike on Beatty and Hoffman and spread to the media a lot of bad publicity about the film. It's a funny good movie but not much memorable. Need to see it again.

Get married, have a child, and raise him to do the same so you won't feel empty.

I do recall it was on VHS.. how odd that it is not on DVD or streaming someplace. From what I understand this film may still be in the red.

    IMHO... IMHO.. IMHO... Merry Xmas!

Aside from lacking much of an ending, the movie was pretty good. I saw it on original release. Too bad someone with a lot of influence in H'wood decided they hated it, and would destroy its reputation -- because so many movies deserved to bomb worse than this one. Maybe its politics were kind of facile, but this was in NO WAY meant to be a political thriller. It was just a frickin' star vehicle for 2 talented guys, with some golden moments & some not. Reassess!

Are y'all out of your minds. This is right up there with "North" in the annuals of embarrassing horrible no good very very bad movies. Funny? This flick is a travesty of the craft. People there is nothing redeeming about this movie. It is a piece shit, crap, junk. It is an insult. There is nothing funny. There is nothing clever. There is nothing, period. If you think of this movie as entertainment, on the cutting edge, smart, haute cinema, y'all are too ignorant for words.

    Idiots!

I totally agree with Maria L and similar reviews... though it was so long ago I will never forget how fun this movie was... think I will rent it! Maria's phrase "two losers just adorable" points to we all sometimes feel like losers when being honest, we want losers to win, we want to be kinder to ourselves!

I heard that Elaine May shot over 6,000 takes of the vulture scene.

I also heard that one night, while embroiled in a heated argument with Warren Beatty, May turned to him and vomited in his face.

I also heard that May became incensed one day in the desert because her coffee was too cold. As a result, she heated the coffee up until it was boiling and poured it on a PA's foot.

I also heard that May beat a penguin with a cane because it was looking at her funny on set.

    I also heard...
