Dell 2408WFP Vertical Line Issue

Problem with my Dell 2408WFP monitor, multiple vertical lines, pixel wide, on the right side of the screen. Started with 1 line and is now up to 2-4 over the course of a month. These lines appear after 5+ minutes of the monitor being turned off and disappear after being turned for 10-20 minutes.

I have the same problem on a Dell 2709wb.

Same issue. They are there when Ii turn it on, if it has been turned off for a while. 3-4 lines in different colors with a few pixels in between them. Running from top to bottom on the left side of my screen,

Event if the monitor is not connected to any source (other than electricity) the problem persists.

My warranty is up. So would very much appreciate any advice on how to fix or minimize this issue. Like never turn it off or bash it with a hammer?

@koldtoftkim Unfortunately I have no idea how to fix this, it seems to be a defect of some kind. I would suggest that you double check your warranty coverage, I'm pretty sure most premium Dell monitors are 3 years.

@kristian21 Hold the menu and plus buttons together for a few seconds, then use the plus button to switch colors.

After waking up today i put on my monitor to check my e-mail and have a similar issue, although the lines on mine seem thinner. At first I thought it was my videocard since it's highly overclocked, but turning everything back to stock didn't help. On the VGA connector I have a second pc installed with a non overclocked card so i switched to that only to find out that didn't help. So it must be the monitor. After switching it off and back on again they were gone , but it has me a bit worried.

I have the exact sane problem on my 2709w, stared as 1 vertical line on the right side (purple, and appeared after the monitor was off for a few minutes), then stays there when you turn it on for about 10-20 mins and finally dissappears all of a sudden (no gradual fade, just instantly gone). A month or so later it turned into 2 lines about 3 pixels apart, now its 4 lines all around the same area a few pixels apart from each other. They all dissappear at the same time after a slightly longer time

Same here; but with DELL 2709w. I usually run the LCD conditioning until it dissappears. The vertical line appears only on the blue component. It's located almost at the same position as this video.

@avtorouc thanks, it works. I get the vertical line on the grey, green and white colors :(

@kmi187 they send a replacement first then you send yours back so you shouldn't have to worry about being without a monitor.

I have the same problem. There's a green line at the right side of the screen.

Unfortunately I bought the monitor with only 1 year warrenty.
