Kanchanaburi Tiger Temple - Fun with live tigers!

Tigers in our world are quickly becoming endangered species. The "Tiger Temple" is in the jungle of Kanchanaburi. The monks there take in injured and orphaned tigers for healing and safety. There is a rumor that the tigers are drugged and therefore allow humans to pet them. But, tourists are only allowed entrance between the hours of 1-3pm, during nap time. These cats are getting massaged while they nap. They are chained for their protection as well as for visitors. They flinched at sounds, moved heads, showed teeth, and purred. I don't think that drugged tigers would respond like this. The monks are very friendly and knowledgeable about the fastest cats in the world. Tigers have been revered throughout mythology and ancient folklore. Art forms from all over the world adore the tiger. Welcome to TIger Camp! Enjoy the film...

Tigers are amazing and incredibly special. We MUST save this delicate species. And yes, there are many jobs working with the endangered cats in Thailand - volunteer positions leading into salaried positions. You can do it if you really want to. I LOVE TIGERS! There are four near where I am living and I have had the priveledge of feeding them when they are babies and watching them grow to adulthood. SAVE THE TIGERS! There aren't many left and they are becoming extinct quickly!

My experience with many tigers in Thailand is that they are NOT drugged. Afternoon is when tigers and other big cats sleep. They prowl at night. When they are well fed and cared for, they like to nap in the afternoon in the hot sun. I know that when things moved, so did the tigers. They responded with jerks to small noises. Support people who care for tigers. There are only 350 left in all of Asia...

they do look drugged..else why are all looking so lethargic and all sleepy and not bothered abt whts going on around them...none look active or playful....i hv heard from people who hv visited this monastery as recent as this month that the tigers are ill-treated/abused

First, have a nice, big dinner, then take a long nap in the sun while humans admire you. If you can't live in the wild, this has got to be second best.
