This interview is right after Amanda quit Gunsmoke. She explains how she felt and why. She was simply amazing... Such a sweet person and HILARIOUS! I love how she was so candidt but yet careful. You can never get enough Amanda! :) ENJOY! :)

Amanda did come back for one major reunion gunsmoke movie "Return to Dodge" (1987). She looked a little worn and did die 2 years later in 1989, still it was great to see her. Strange how you look at these happy women on screen and they might be having so real conflicts with the role in real life :-(

@silkmann Sure did, however she was sick/recovering from cancer. She was still amazing, even if she only had a SUPER TINY part in the movies. It's like we can't get enough of her... she was a big staple but somehow only got bits and pieces of her before she died. Bless her soul! I love her to bits and pieces!

She still looks good out of character! Without all that goo on her face. She was prettier than all her young pretty girl Show host! I compared her to even Marriet Hartley. Miss Kitty was prettier. But I have a fetish. For good looking older women!

@DA90027 i agree she was a sweet lady and she showed it when the cast was told they wasn't welcome in Nashville when they were doing the state fair tours.in fact the whole cast showed class by just waving at the crowd as they were leaving.

Thank you for posting this lovely interview. It's a shame things didn't work out because Gunsmoke without Miss Kitty is not Gunsmoke. I pretend season 20 doesn't exist. Especially since they did as she predicted and never mentioned Kitty again. That might have worked with Chester, but Kitty was too integral to Matt to just disappear. RIP Amanda.

I loved watching Gunsmoke in the afternoon when I was little. She was an early feminist icon!!!!!

Sad that she left. From what I heard/read, she had a falling out with the execs of the show. correct me if I'm wrong. Great to see these interviews, thanks for posting. So, so sad to watch this and remember the tragic cause of her death. It was definitely showing in the Gunsmoke reunion movie. She soooo did not look like herself.
