Time Lapse of me building my MegaSquirt ECU,

It took about a week spending 1-2hours most nights, The testing after each stage is not show because the computer with a serial port is located in the garage. This ECU was set-up for the the Ford EDIS ignition system. It will be fitted to my Phoenix trike with wasted spark and Honda CBR600 throttle bodies.

The Time Lapse was made with a timer set on 10 second intivals with 2355 pictures making the end video.

  • i plan on running one on my rx7 it looks like ill need to learn some soldering, is that the only aspect of electronics i should look into? thanks

  • @nusair2

I would say a good quality temp controlled soldering iron will help you a lot. I made the some little electronics projects as testers with a cheap pen soldering iron, They worked ok but after getting the temp controlled station the soldering became mush easier and better joints.

You will need to know basic automotive electronics, Like Hall and VR signals, relays and what variable resistance sensors work. This is all covered in the megasquirt website and documents

  • I'm thinking of getting Megasquirt. I would like to know was it hard to put it together. On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard was it ?

  • @mrphixxit71

I have automotive and basic soldering, I would say 6-7 out of 10, The megasquirt has great instructions and very helpful forum, The jimstim was easy to build but took a little while to get working.

  • Nice, MS2!

  • 6-7 is right. I built my v3 board in 5 hours over 2 sittings. Pretty much step by step and for me to swap to edis its a simple 2 wire msd plug between the 2.
