This is a simple demonstration of how a manual transmission works, rendered in 3ds max. The shifter doesn't actually follow the conventional H-pattern - it's just there to demonstrate how the linkages in the transmission work.

  • missing clutch shift cables syncros etc & reverse is backwards

  • Wtf! The shifter position doesn't even match up with the correct gearing

  • what is i that synchronizes the different gears to each others?

  • @sigilofbolias in layman's terms it disconnects the power from the engine so you can shift with out tearing up the gears

  • well then what the fuck does the clutch do?

  • very cool man, congratulation for your job

  • Best animation I've seen so far

  • i don't think the reverse gear spins the other way....
