In just caught the last 1/2 of this song on a 1/2 hour show on Free Speech T V last night..I am trying to find out where I can find this.. It was called "The Last Dead Fish" & it ended with a guy singing some but not all the same lyrics...He called himself "The Singing Fisherman" The content was Someone climbing the mast of a LARGE fishing ship & staying there for 58 hours until The powers that be would meet with the hand fishermen??? thanks, for any help, Don

There are so many great versions of this song; it's great to hear where it all came from. The variety of feeling different performers put in it is a testament to what great writing it is. (I particularly always liked comparing the Jean Redpath version with Jesse Ferguson's.)
Nothin' like an original though!

I sing this song all the time, You did a great job Ron, I did my own video when I was in N.S. Thanks Ron
The absolute best version by the man who wrote this song. No one can sing like the writer cause he can still put the feeling in this song that was there when Ron wrote this song. if you think he's not a great singer and a Newfoundland Treasure than you don't know squat.
