Hi all,

This is the 3rd of 3 video's following my 2nd holiday of the year (to Blue Anchor, Somerset).

This video features the famous Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. This lovely 2ft gauge line is based at Woody Bay Station, just 10 minutes from Lynton (Somerset) on the A39. Running for 1 mile (for now!) from Woody Bay to Killington Lane, the line employs both steam and diesel locomotives. After telephoning in advance to check that steam was running today, I was in luck! Therefore, when I arrived, the quaint Kerr Stuart 0-6-0 locomotive, "Axe", was returning from Killington Lane. I must admit, she looked very smart with her rake of 4 coaches and the sun shining! (She was also, unusually, wearing a Bob the Builder doll on the drivers side tank!).

I was made very welcome by the railway and I throughly recommend a visit. It will be fantastic when the railway can take its new scenic route into Lynton but, for now, Killington Lane is the terminus. However, though the ride is short, the views are absolutely fantastic! You can see green fields, breathtaking hills and the unmistakable blue of the Bristol Channel from the comfort of your seat! I enjoyed 1st class travel (highly recommended in a beautifully restored coach!) and even a footplate ride (thanks one and all for the chance!).

Enjoy!
