2/4 Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Vesselina Kasarova records her 2004 ECHO Award winning CD, Bulgarian Soul, in Sofia. The folk music is arranged by Krassimir Kyurkchiyski. Kasarova is accompanied by the pianist Ermila Schweizer-Sekulinova, Vania Moneva and the Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria, and Tzanko Dimitrov Delibozov & the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra. She also goes to visit her old Music School in Stara Zagora.

Yes, Bulgarian song Dilmano, DIlbero is known by every Bulgarian. It is written in distinctive irregular rhythm 8/8 + 11/8 . That is difficult beyond measure, one has need of memory for the Time and organize it just consequently..
Yous performance is perfect!!
Thank you so much that you with your charming sensitive soul and your phenomenal gift make possibly of rizing Bulgarian spirit in whole world and in this way make many Bulgarians to be proud!

when I heard that ORPHEUS might have been "bulgarian" I had doubts... I am not sure even now... but I am sure: VESSELINA IS ORPHEUS' GRANDGRANDDAUGHTER!!!!

@LOMIDIMI It's a traditional Bulgarian folksong, I think. Though this version sung here was arranged by Krassimir Kyurkchiyski in 2003 specifically for Kasarova's Bulgarian Soul CD. :o)

It's so odd and makes me even laugh to hear Kasarova make that change from her light speaking voice to her sultry, dark singing voice at 6:11. How does she do it so quickly like that?!!

@olympicfreak678 Hiya! She was asked about the difference between her singing and speaking voice in an interview a while back and she said that that's because she uses different muscles when speaking from when singing. Further in this documentary when she sings Orfeo's 'Che faro senza Euridice' with Raisa Koleva she pops out another baritonal voice before switching to her normal singing voice... I nearly slipped off my chair the first time I heard it. The lass has many voices in her throat! ;o)
