We made this video for the amazing Country Rockers way back in 1992. The video took the 'Bronze' award at the Worldfest Houston film festival. The Country Rockers were a sharp & brilliant trio put together by Memphis legendary producer/composer/musician, Ron Easley, aka Durand in the band. They also featured the late Sam Baird, and the late & larger-than-life Gaius 'Ringo' Farnham on the trap drums. This song can be found along with two wonderful lp's worth of material on one cd (on theTelstar label). I believe it can still be found at the tremendous Goner Records in Memphis, TN (www.goner-records.com). The video helped to get Ringo on the Jon Stewart show, not once, but twice. We filmed this in 16mm color, and super 8mm b&w, from live performances at CBGB's in NYC, and again at Maxwell's in Hoboken when the Country Rockers were invited to open up for Japan's, Shonen Knife (look for back stage flirtations going on between the 2 trios in Maxwell's green room). We also filmed in Memphis, TN & across the river in Arkansas. Country Rocker's fan Ben 'Rivethead' Hamper (of Roger & Me fame), as well as the Gorie's own, Peggy O'Neill, have cameos, drivin' a few nails with Shirley at Memphis' famous Lamplighter Lounge. The young woman is Kasia, whom we had recently cast in the lead roll in our independent feature project, Wayne County Ramblin'. In that film she was supposed to play an 18 year old; it turned out she was 14 when we made this music video. director; Dan Rose, producer; Van Anderson, 16mm; John Busch, Lighting; Tana Dubbe, Super 8mm & editing; Terrence Murphy. Go to our website, if so inclined, for more information on the recently completed, Wayne County Ramblin'.

  • Didn't these guys back up Alex Chilton? (Boxtops, producer of the Cramps)

  • Country Rocker founder, Ron Easley (aka Durand) recorded and toured extensively with Alex Chilton for many, many years. Country Rockers were on tour in Germany with Alex on the same bill, and I believe they may have backed Alex up on a few occasions, but I'm not entirely certain about that. I think Ringo and Durand did a show with Alex in Hoboken, NJ, once upon a time. Country Rockers were not only great performing live, but there recordings are excellent as well.

  • Ron Easley taught me how to play guitar back in the 90's when he was giving lessons here in memphis in his little house/studio. A great man and excellent musician!
