@samueljoelgarnett Huge planes cost a lot of time and money to design and are low in demand. Boeing mostly focuses on military and passenger transport anyways. Their normal cargo planes satisfies the needs of their customers already. The only reason they even made this was so they could carry 787 parts. If they don't need it, they have no reason to make it.

@samueljoelgarnett Boeing just never really needed one of these kind of planes I guess

It sure looks a lot nicer than the Super Guppy, Pilots are at least proud to fly the Dreamlifter, they will never admit to flying the Guppy...

It was never designed to be mass produced and sold. It was simply designed so boeing could transport air plane parts. Its a plane with a specific purpose and really no other use. The dreamlifter was never intended for passenger use.

You wanna know the real dream lifter? Look up AN-225

@secret00agent00man the LCF carries MUCH more weight & mass then the airbus. the Baluga is doing the job that the Boeing 377PG was doing. the 377 PG is a 1947 vintage radial engine airliner based on the B-29 bomber. so the Baluga is a lightweight in the heavy haul catagory.
It's a little more complicated than that - they made a giant hollow tube that flies, which is great for transport, but worthless for passenger transport. In addition to this, the entire airframe is dated, and by todays standards is inefficient (wing, engine, fuselage design, as well as materials used.) The A380 was designed with 500+ pax electrical, plumbing, food galley, entertainment, safety (doors, fire evac, oxygen etc) systems. I could go on forever! Different plane, different purpose. =)

Its not as long but taller and wider and since the first version of Beluga the Super Guppy was released in the early 80's, how slow are boeing??
