Researchers at Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, Mass., have manipulated mouse fibroblasts and turned them into cells with such developmental elasticity that they appear identical to embryonic stem cells.

  • After hwang woo suk fiasco, perhaps, they learned to be cautious? Jaenisch said that the pluripotent mice cells were abnormal. missing other factors? need more time to learn the secrets of embryogenesis? Not the time to hail bravura of patient specific stem cells or boutique organs yet?

  • They are what Yamanaka team used?(published in Cell 2006)

  • What is the timre-frame of EBV transduction? Will this induce immunoreactivity or even worse teratoma? I rather prefer a non-viral transient way ...
