State Ural Russian Folk Choir

So this is the other side of that old record.



I inherited this record from my late grandmother about 25 years ago.

I remember listening to this very same record when i was a kid back in the 70's, and that record looked just as battered back then as it does today, so it must be really old.

If there's anybody who can tell more about this specific old record, i'd appreciate to hear it!

I don't speak or read or even understand any russian language, so please stick to english or german.

Dear Sir,

This information which I am taking from a record sleeve is as follows;
(the) State Urals Folk Choir was organized in 1943 (leader L.L. Chistiansen).

The choir was comprised of participants of the Ural villages of Izmodyenova and Pokrovskoye. Among them are (were) A. Shirokova, K. Kashtanova, M. Plekhanova,
S. Kvashnin, L. Makushina, I. Krutsky, A.Ustuzhyaninova and others.

Thanks for preserving and posting this rare gem. Too bad the year it was published is unknown. My best guess is sometime in the 50's when stereo recordings first appeared and the 33rpm l.p.'s began to replace the old 78's.

Really lovely. I keep searching for some good old choral and keep getting the execrable Red Army Choir. It's like finding Disney when you're looking for Grimm.
