What kind of hay is that? I mean, what is the weed being cut?

The hay in this video was largely alfalfa and grass. In the beginning shots the alfalfa was in full bloom. We prefer to cut at 10% bloom but this was too photogenic to pass on. That stand was near 100% alfalfa.

Also, seancarm posted these questions on the previous version of this video: "How much fuel does the horse drawn baler use compared to the tractor? When the baler trips does it give a jolt to the horses?" There are many variables, but our estimate is that the horse-drawn baler and forecart uses about 1/3 to 1/4 the fuel of a tractor. Also, the baler doesn't jolt the horses so much when it trips, as it has more of a continuous rocking rhythm.

Where can I get ox drawn haying equipment? I would like a mower, rake and baler that do not run on fuel, if possible. I live in eastern Ontario, about an hour south east of Ottawa.

i liked watching the tractor baile hay i would not like the horses baling there is a motor right next to you it would be very hot i could not do it in a field this big is the bailer a 24t or 14t?
