its called RESET. to do this press spot and dock (or max) and hold till the light goes out and chirps a tune

your using a remote to do that, they have a command center remote to control it.

(Follow-up) iRobot said I needed a replacement but that they wouldn't have one for weeks (they weren't sure how long and didn't seem to concerned about it) so the 570 went back to the place where I bought it for a refund. Too bad, it was really cool when it worked right. I loved to listen to it cleaning under the bed while I lay there just reading a magazine. ;) -- Mr. B
