@best1fishman my mom did too!
she was from iowa, of german descent with no italian influences in her life until she met my father as a consequence of ww2. his parents migrated to the boston area from foggia italy during the turn of the last century.
after they married, my mom learned at the "master's apron"...my italian nonni. she learned to cook the basic to the most complicated italian dishes. she did everything from home made pizza to ravioli to italian christmas cookies all to perfection.
