  • Is a Spiedie more or less like a gyro or souvlaki sandwich?

  • Similar, but not the same. The marinade is more Italian style than a gyro or souvlaki. Plus spiedies can be servede on all kinds of breads, not just pita. Interestingly, some restaurants serve a "greek spiedie" as one of the choices. It's spiedie meat in a pita with Tzatziki sauce.

  • I really enjoyed going to the Spiedie Fest and I would highly recommend checking it out... And if you go, be sure to try a Spiedie.. if you don't, that's just unacceptable. :) My sister lives in Johnson City now so I plan on going more often.

  • I went to the Spiedie Pit in Binghamton last month. The spiedies there were so good I bought extras to bring home. If you like these videos, we now have more information at pleasepassthesaltpotatoes (.com)

  • I went to Cayuga for TV.

Anyway, would shredded meat be ok if the flavor and ingredients were done right???

Or would spiedies lovers shun it because its different than what they are used to???????

To me a spiedie is defined by the sauce. You can get more of the sauce into your sandwich if the meat is shredded.

  • Couple things: the original spiedie meat, and I feel still the best, was/is lamb; "State Fair" is from "Salamida's", not "Lupo's" (I prefer Salamida's); and Sharkey's spiedies simply cannot be beat! My mouth is watering just thinking about them . . .

  • State Fair Spiedie Sauce is the best. I love it

  • Sharkeys is a very very nice restaurant which I miss very much. The mussels were my favorite, and the whole place is just wonderful. Just hearing the name reminds me of a very good time in my life. And yes, I know salt potatoes and spiedies, too.

  • Bread has to be fresh Felix Roma Italian Bread! With brown mustard!

    The Spiedie King

  • i loved lupo's we ate there every week my father used to own dick's garage

  • Lupo's in Endwell is my favorite.

  • oh my fucking god spiedies i was born in west windsor in binghamton new york
