@rmsrsa When I say "we might have avoided the second one altogether" I mean the whole world, not just the US. Of course once WW2 began, it was necessary for Britain and her allies to win. Churchill was right about a new dark age otherwise.

@SCE2AUX Not true, you gained a foothold in Europe for your military. The USA had to enter the war, the attack on Pearl Harbor was known before it happened and was the excuse the US government needed to bring you into the war without giving up the fact that the US had intercepted Japanese codes. Also Germany had in fact declared war on the USA and had submarines attacking US ships.
