Columbia, SC, painter and ceramic sculptor Jeff Donovan's new series, Mud Caps, is now on view in the window at if ART Gallery, 1223 Lincoln St., Columbia, SC. In January 2010, if ART Gallery will organize a 30-year retrospective of Donovan's work at Gallery 80808/Vista Studios in Columbia. Donovan was born in 1957 in Millford, Del. He studied at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla., and the Penland School of Crafts in Penland, N.C., where he studied with Christina Cordova. The painter and ceramic sculptor has exhibited widely throughout South and North Carolina, including at the Columbia Museum of Art, which recently bought one of his sculptures, and the Spartanburg (S.C.) Museum of Art. He is represented in the Mark B. Coplan Collection of South Carolina Art and the prominent ceramic sculpture collection of Ron Porter and Joe Price in Columbia. Donovan also works as an art conservator with ReNewell Fine Art Conservation in Columbia.
