I adore the intro to this tune; it's an wonderful amalgamation of somber and mystery, which shortly gives way to some driving grooves. When the riff that's introduced at 2:10 comes back around at 2:31, I change to a straight-ahead backbeat. At 2:52 - 2:54, the cymbal orchestration moves all the way around my kit, from right to left; I've used this concept a few times now. During the section that begins around 3:47, I wanted the drums to sound 'open' but punctuated with a couple bursts of fill-ins.

Some additional notes:
2:48 - flam between ride, kick, snare
3:24 - difficult fill
4:00, 4:14 - tom-tom melody complements the guitar
5:06 - 5:11 - difficult orchestration

@AllahRackballABF Aye; I switch off between those and the Hammers (I believe the model is SRH2). I've been playing Magnums since early 2010. The stack is 14" ICON / 16" ALT chinese. For any other equipment inquiries, I've a list on my website under 'misc'.

This mix sounds far better than the one on the ep, drums bit too loud for a cd. But for a youtube mix this sounds awesome. Great drum composing though the song sounds a bit like a Opeth ripoff. You are a god Travis.
