yup, I can see the other way is working well. Our little corner of the Earth is just oozing with goodness. *sigh* When parents can't take care of their own kids it's really sad. There is a diff. between abuse and teaching your kid respect, humility, and all the the good things

Just because you were abused does not mean it is okay for others to be beaten. She is twelve and will be disrespectful. Her dad does need to teach her and guide her but he can do that without making her fear him.

You can teach children how to function in society without being mentally abusive. Is blowing up at people whenever they do something you don't like a good rule for society? He should teach her how to deal with frustrating circumstances without yelling. What a great coping mechanism--anger. There is nothing healthy about that.

When you consider the way that he has been treated by his ex wife and his daughter, I totally understand his frustration. His daughter's disrespect is uncalled for and she should be straightened out (not physically of course), but her action need consequences and she needs to know how she effects other people. How else will she grow up responsibly, knowing the rules of society? He has every right to be furious with her.
