Forcing society to alter the long-standing definition of "marriage" is not a "fundamental right". In CA, gays already have the EXACT SAME legal rights through CA Family Code 297.5.

What IS a "fundamental right" is democracy, and the ability to amend one's constitution. Sure, try to sell gay marriage to the voters, but fighting democracy through the courts.

Plenty of heteros were active supporters of gay marriage in California and Maine. Gay marriage lost in those states because Mormons and the Catholic church poured money (which they don't actually have) into campaigns which utilized lies and stereotypes to win over people who don't fully understand homosexuality. It's that simple.

It is not incumbent on me to to explain civil unions equaling marriage. It is on you to tell me how they aren't. As I have been saying for awhile now. You all are not just fighting for your so called lack of rights. You are trying to force those against homosexual marriage, to LIKE it. You are holding out over a WORD. And do you come with respect?
