Janet Sackman was a fashion model hired in the 1940s by cigarette executives to advertise their product. She was pressured to smoke to appear more "genuine," and sell more cigarettes.

If you have trouble understanding her, it will be because she had her voice box removed because of throat and lung cancer.

  • I had to read about this because we are doing a smoking unit in school. I just had to hear her talk because i thought it was interesting
