On August 13, 2006 during the opening match between Eric Young and Johnny Devine at TNA's Hard Justice pay-per-view, a burlap sack wrapped around a pipe was set on fire by the show's earlier pyro display.

This was unknown to fans watching at home until the TNA fans in attendance began chanting:

"The Roof! The Roof! The roof is on fire!/
The Roof! The Roof! The roof is on fire!/
We don't need no water, let the motherf-cker burn/
Burn motherf-cker, Burn/ "

As they did so, the camera panned up just in time to see a thick cloud of dry powder pouring down from the rafters and engulfing the Impact Zone with a thick fog. At times the powder was so thick, Eric Young & Johnny Devine can barely be seen through it on the camera's wide-shot. As the match continued, the fans once again made light of the situation and mockingly chanted at Young & Devine:

"You can't see us! (clap-clap-clapclapclap) You can't see us!"

Young and Devine continued and finished the match exceptionally well for the improved fire that was almost disastrous for TNA's live pay-per-view.

Mike Tenay and Don West started recapping the event and promoting the upcoming matches on the card as the fire was completely put out and the ring area cleaned up for the next match, including putting a brand new canvas over the ring.

Television fans were introduced to a video package highlighting the Sting/Jeff Jarrett main event match for the pay-per-view. When the video package was over, Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash were standing outside of the Impact Zone. The reason: fans and all TNA employees were ordered by fire fighters to evacuate the building for safety reasons.

This was the first time in wrestling history a building was completely evacuated during a live pay-per-view!

For over 20 minutes, Mike Tenay, Don West, and Jeremy Borash each did their part to kill time as fans were finally allowed to re-enter the building and take their seat. Shane Douglas & The Newly Franchised Naturals along with Monty Brown cut promos after Tenay, West, and Borash had run out of everything to say without repeating it for a third time.

Luckily, the fire didn't stop the show but a match between America's Most Wanted, The Naturals, The James Gang, and Matt Bentley & Kazarian was canceled due to time constraints and rescheduled for the following Impact showing.

  • Monty Brown cut the best promo in TNA history that night.

    That's science FACT.

  • @Ari22682 Remember it so clear, just amazing. When they had to fill air time not knowing if they'd get started again, having all the main event talent cut promos. Most amazing 20+ minute promo with no preparation I've ever seen. I miss 05/06 TNA so much!

  • @MichaelColeMiner To be fair, I'm kinda surprised this doesn't happen more often in wrestling.

  • It looks like the rapture is coming!

  • hahahahahahahahahhahaha the roof the roof the roof is on fire thats pretty funny.

  • Faaaaaacck!

  • Jeez, TNA is so bad even the pyro botches.

  • @millinniummany3k Actually, it was "You can't see us!", in reference to John Cena's catchphrase.

  • @millinniummany3k They were chanting you cant see us making fun of the wrestlers and at least their pyro didn't cause a fire in the crowd like wrestlemania 24.
