Olympic Medal Count: China Edges USA for Most Overall

On a day when "badminton match-fixing" was an actual thing, Team USA and China continued their dominance at the 2012 Summer Olympics while everybody else plays for third. For the U.S. on Wednesday, it was "One if by land, two if sea" -- the Americans added a gold medal in women's cycling and two more in the pool. Meanwhile, in gymnastics, Danell Leyva "left-va" it all on the high bar en route to a bronze medal in men's gymnastics.

Well in fairness the Chinese despite have 3 times the population only sent 379 competitors where the US sent 534.

If you take that into account then the stats are a little different.

Had the Chinese sent the same number of competitors their 88 medals would have been 124 which is 19% more medals per competitor.

Also as it turns out a lot of US Olympians [over 40] were not from the US. But it did get their citizenship sorted really fast, so everyones a winner I suppose.

well judging by your spelling of AMERICANS i think you might be foreign. if i recall correctly, America had the most medals in the 2012 summer Olympics. I am pretty sure we had 104 and the second place country (China) had 84. Also you come on here typing about how we are the sore losers when you are the one talking shit. Also, you said most of our winners are not from america? well our basketball team is all from america. They won gold. Same with gymnastics. And Michael Phelps is american.
