Cabo Girão is the second highest sea cliff in Europe. At its base are a patchwork of small agricultural plots. The spot is conducive to growing vines as the south facing cliff stores the heat of the day and helps keep the nighttime temperature higher than would otherwise be the case.

Tourists can visit the base of the cliff by means of a challenging cable car ride. Only climb aboard if you have a head for heights!
