Fleischmann 130/2 - first run (high speed)

This is the F130/2 engine I got off ebay recently. It cleaned up quite nicely and is in not too bad condition other than a few dings and a bit of rust on the firebox. I've got it running here with the full compliment of 4 fuel tablets (not having a suitable meths burner right now). I was surprised how much go it has with so little fuel, but it sure goes through the Esbit in a hurry. I had burnt off most of a box before the boiler was even close to being too low.

Sorry for the shakey camera work. I was concerned about the fire, as I did not want the whistle handle to melt. I had my attention mainly on the boiler as a result.

Either the weighted relief valve is a dummy, or is stuck. There is a spring loaded relief/filler valve towards the front of the boiler, though.

Note the heavy cast engine frame and supports. Fleischmann's larger engines were made of quality stuff, rather than the sheet metal stampings that are so common these days.

Hi. I have only had one session with this engine so far and I've not gotten into the nitty gritty. If I'm any judge, though, I would guess that it's doing something in excess of 2000RPM

I don't remember the exact date, and I can't find that Fleischmann reference site, but if I recall right it's a later production one from around 1960 or so.

I don't have a solid fuel Mamod, but it's essentially the same stuff as Esbit.
