In honor of Earth Day, Margaret T. Peters, historian and publication manager at the Virginia Department of Historic Resources from 1968 to 2002, discusses he book Conserving the Commonwealth. She describes the earliest days of Virginia's environmental movement, recounting the efforts of a farsighted group of leaders to preserve Virginia's priceless resources—open land, waterways, and historic sites—and to create new parks within reach of all the state's citizens. The Book Talk was hosted at the Library of Virginia on Monday, April 20, 2009
