The only way to improve it would be to have a couple of locations to really drive home how you select them in practice. That's nit picking though. One of the best video's I've seen

You are correct I should have. Next one I promise.
Remember:
1)Open sky, not the sun as the source
2)Get AWAY from the background and shoot into dark areas they will look lighter in the pictures.
3) Don't let the source illuminate the subject the subject from multiple directions use a blocker.
Taking away light is more important than adding it when shooting outdoors.
