Actually, Zila Kafi does not omit the Rishab in the aroha. Khansahib plays Rishab in ascent quite a bit in this video.
Zila Kafi follows the Kafi line. You can play SRgmP or RmP. The shuddh G and komal g are treated the same as in Kafi. The main difference is Zila: m D n S. :-)
Zilla Kafi is a sampoorna jati raga and is also sung in the evening hours. It omits the usage of the Rishabh in the ascending while uses it well in the descending.
Khansahib towered so far above the rest of us Sarode players that just being in his presence was enough to encourage furious "riaz" for weeks to come. This Raag can be found in his first year study book, if you can find it.
