Part one (of three) of a trip down the Chicago Transit Authority's Yellow Line, shot from inside the train. This video was shot by myself during a September 2004 fantrip (chartered by the Central Electric Railfans' Association) commemorating the final days of overhead wire operation on the Yellow Line ("Skokie Swift"). The train was indeed operated under the wire using its trolley poles.

  • Exciting! Used to operate 4000s on Lake Street when we had to manipulate poles in Oak Park. Have ridden this stretch many times en route to Milwaukee, too. Electroliners were elegant and fast!

  • I was born some 14 months after the North Shore Line abandoned operations, but at least we still have actual former North Shore Line that's still in daily service.
