The media didn't make that big of a deal for some reason. there were refences to it here and there, but in the playoff preview shows that aired here in NY at the time, didn't say not one word about this. That's why I asked Keith about it.

At that time, the playoffs alternated the home field advantage. That changed when the playoffs expanded. In 1986, the 2 teams that won the estern division in both leagues were supposed to have home field. On the day of game 4, which was supposed to be in the Astrodome, the Huston Oliers had a home game scheduled on the same day. So, the great NFL, forced MLB to flip the playoffs. In other words, insead of the Mets, the Astros had home field.

@Joe43971 you had some great questions - funny stuff - he still didn't answer though about the playoff home field advantage - i have to look that up - now i'm curious too about why they started the series in Houston
