And yet ANOTHER GE bites the dust............

@nsrailfann4life91 Cool thanks!

@OneHalfEmo I like both GE and EMD. Yes, the NS still has multiple non-rebuild SD40-2s runnning around on the mainline. Hell, they come through here where I live almost daily haulin locals. However, there are some that are being rebuilt and made into new prototypical locomotives. Just like they took some Ex-Conrail SD50 locomotives, did an engine swap, changed the electronics, and they end up with a SD40E. Keep em original is what I say.

@nsrailfann4life91 Are the EMD SD40-2's all still commonly used in NS?
-
@nsrailfann4life91 Do you like EMD or GE?, i like both.
-
@nsrailfann4life91 Cool thanks!

@OneHalfEmo Depends on how bad damage is. Some can be sent rto RR museums and some may even be restored to a custom prototype locomotive. There is really no definite way to tell what goes on in that Juniata Shop. NS does a large variance of things with their locomotives.

@nsrailfann4life91 What does Norfolk Southern do with all of the retired locomotives they have?
-
@OneHalfEmo Cool and thanks. I will give EMD a plus though. Their newer units dont have the water and coolant leakage problem like the new GE Evolution Series locos do. GE is easier to work on in certain areas though as everything isnt as crammed up as an EMD loco, but they are both hard to work on in certain areas. EMDs more commonly just crack a turbine scroll where GEs mostly blow it apart, but hey they are both great manufacturers.

@nsrailfann4life91 Yeah thats true, i actually like both GE and EMD and your right, all trains have faults.
Didn`t look like much of a fire. Did the crew put the fire out and/or was the fire department called?
