All that follows in the video is my gameplay, strategies, and commentary. I winged it... Please read the video description for usual tips, etc.

!!! [Possible Spoilers] !!!
This is a comprehensive guide, disscussion and explanation regarding tactical strategies to use against Weigraf in Chapter 3, Inside of Riovanes Castle Keep. Specifically, the first half of the battle when Ramza is challenged by Wiegraf and must face him alone in a duel. This video discusses strategies for defeating this half allowing the player to get to the second half of the battle more easily depending on equipment, jobs, and abilities.

NOTES AND FIRST PRIMARY TIPS:
1. Always keep a secondary backup save file on the world map in case you just can't win and must go back to grind for levels, abilities, etc in random battles. If you didn't, and your stuck fighting Wiegraf, this video "may or may not" grant you the knowledge and skill to win.

2. No matter what, you should have either, several job classes open OR have mastered / highly leveled up a couple job classes. Thus, I believe ANYONE, is capable of winning this battle in nearly every game save file that exists. It mostly comes down to one's available equipment choice, and some abilities depending ont eh job classes Ramza has been in, and leveled up.

3. Wiegraf's Holy Sword skillset is actually NOT Holy elemental. It is by default, non-elemental damage, but can change to Elemental damage if a weapon like Ice Brand, or Coral Sword is equipped. However, a bug in the game design makes the game think it is always Holy Elemental, thus a item like the Chamelion Robe could prove useful, albeit a cheap tactic that may not have been intended in the game originally. However, it may have purposely been programmed this way since they added a Chameleon Robe to this map as a hidden item you can find with "Move-Find Item" and of course, "Equip Change" would then be a must.

4. Wiegraf will typically do different amounts of damage depending on your zodiac compatibility with him. His prefered skill in this duel is Lightning Stab (Hallowed Bolt). Just beware his critical hits which tend to deliver more than the usual damage. If you are unlucky and suffer a critical mortal blow, do not fret, it happens. Try again with a smile on your face and a sandwich of preference in your hand.

5. Healing is usually very important against Wiegraf, having access to only X-Potions, Auto Potion, Regenerate, Move-HP UP and even Defense UP can be highly beneficial to your character. Move-MP UP and MP Switch are a powerful defense as well, as if Ramza has an "Over-shield."

Good: 164 damage

Wiegraf is immune to ALL Status Effects except for:
Blind, Silence, Oil, Faith, Innocent. (Note: Slow does NOT work on him in this portion of the battle at Riovanes, I checked it myself in the PS1 version. So, using buffs like Haste, Protect, and so on could be more beneficial to you obviously. Breaking or Rending his Speed or Power also greatly helps if you manage to hit him with those Knight abilities.

How many times will Golem protect you? Is it measured in turns, or in the amount of damage?

@kerplop Golem protects your party from physical attacks and has an equivalent amount of HP to the caster that used the spell. So if your summoner or unit has 180 MAX HP, Golem will also have the same amount. (so Knights, or Monks with Equip Armor whom have enough MP can cast this spell and have a 300+ HP Golem. So when damage builds up enough, Golem gets KO'ed. Otherwise it lasts the entire battle if the enemies cannot "defeat it."

@MsBigB777 It is considered one of the toughest battles in Final Fantasy Tactics. This is the first half of the battle though, the second half is tougher yet.

@MsBigB777 This is considered a pretty rough battle, but there are some that are more frustrating if you ask me. As an example, if you go to the fight in the Goland Execution sight, its incredibly irritating with the enemies constant Haste and seemingly infinite rage.
