I am in Murozumi, Japan, explaining how to visit a Shinto shrine. If you're ever in Japan, you should have plenty of opportunity to try this, so please do! There are also some out-takes for your viewing pleasure :~)

The music is a traditional Japanese piece called Ancient Pine.

  • You're not supposed to swallow the water - you should spit it out, but of course there is a kind of drain by the side, you shouldn't spit in the water!

  • @lshulman58 lol

  • Thank you for making this video.

  • Thanks for the tour of the Shinto shrine. I will share this vid with my students when we discuss Shinto in my college class on the world's religions. The part about the torii should appear earlier in the video - before you actually enter the shrine area. (just a suggestion If you ever edit the video). But please edit out the bloopers at the end (it was rather professional until that point).

  • How to visit any shrine. *DON'T TOUCH SHIT* The end.

  • @uberspazzcake217 yes, I don't think there are any shinto shrines over there. None here in LA. either.

  • @rickebeal kinda hard to visit them if you live in a state like NY xDD

  • @uberspazzcake217 There are a few shrines on the Hawaiian Islands, including he Kotohira Jinsha on Oahu; there is also the Tsubaki Grand Shrine in Washington State near Seattle.

  • robgillion are you a shinto?

  • i thought ringing the bell was to let the gods know that you were there.

  • do you know of any shrines in America? i'd really love to go to one! :D i'm doing research on Shinto and i find it very very interesting :3
