How do you handle overspeed situations? Can it be feathered and braked?
-
@brokenbrush @brokenbrush The Bird is silent and cause of the tight weave of the blades from the front the turbine appears solid to the winged creatures, The SpiralHydrofoil is next on the list of developement. Every situation calls for a particular set up even in an ice situation. While I agree there are some pretty neat thinkers here in N.H. there are many more throughout the world, but I do understand your sentiments. We've got the Bird and the world does not see it yet, all in time.

YEP and I'll bet it isn't just them big tall blades sticking up and whoppping all the time. I LOVE it. Think of this in a water stream say In the river with the current flowing through it.
Only peoblem there is the rivers up this way N.H. freeze.
Leave the free thinkers to be in N.H.

Hi chicnpoper, The Spiralairfoil Wind Turbine turns to meet the strongest winds every time, what your seeing is small gust and then dead time, believe me she is a fine and responsive bird.
Recently we have seen this wind turbine and it is silent, finds the wind, and turns in light breezes. A truly ingenious design. We eagerly look forward to buying one - as soon as they are available. It strikes us as being the ideal model for home energy production.

@Jefferdaughter Thank you for the kind words and sentiments, truly greatly appreciated, it's nice to see that the product speaks for itself and that some folk see its value at first glance. Again thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Hi kylegordon, We intend to have an electronic cutout that resets itself. I see no need with breaking as she is built to fly.

Hi kylegordon, The nature of the SpiralAirfoil is slower then traditional tri blades 60/40 but the power curve is at the very least 5:l in favour of the SpiralAirfoil. We've acheived a start up speed of one mile per hour. Contigent upon just what genny we select will determine just how to slow the bird down in overwindage situations, I tend to believe if the genny is close to frying out a relay will open for five minutes and then reset til the windage dies down.

i think i see a flaw when the thing turns around and doesn't go back...you need to put a flat board at the end so it stays pointed towards the find direction

@chickenpoper , Actually, your wrong, it does not need a tail and finds the wind wonderfully.
