Pump Aid: Community

Pump Aid was founded by people who belong to and understand the community in which they are working. The approach is demand driven and the community contributes some materials for construction of the pump, including sand and stones for building, hand made bricks for the pump housing and labour to assist in tasks during the building process. The result is a community which both understands and feels ownership of the pump and maintains it in the long term. For more information, visit www.pumpaid.org.
