On Saturday next, some of the musicians who meet at the Tynwald Inn in St Johns are organizing a 'Skiffle' night, so in preparation for that, I have decided to try out some songs from 'The King of Skiffle', Lonnie Donegan. This is one of his great successes from the late 1950s and is amusing in its lyrics and in the interruptions put in to tell corny jokes. (The interruptions are better when there is a band playing and another 'stooge' to make the responses, but I have to do it all by myself, though with a little imagination I am sure you will get the idea.)

  • Great performance as ever. Keep them coming!

p.s. Nowadays, this song always reminds me of the credit crunch, because of the recently written parody of it - My Old Man's a Banker.

  • @athull08 I have not heard that one.

  • Excellent cover performance of Lonnie Donegan's variant of a musical comedy song from the early 1920s by J.P. Long. Thanks for sharing. :-)
